Study shows Telmisartan benefits in ACE-intolerant patients

Results from the TRANSCEND published by The Lancet have shown benefits of treatment with telmisartan (Micardis) in patients unable to tolerate ACE inhibitors.



The study showed a reduced a composite endpoint of cardiovascular death, MI, stroke and congestive heart failure by 13 per cent in patients.

A second trial published by the New England Journal of Medicine has suggested that it makes little difference to stroke recurrence when used early after stroke, however.
